Carrier Cancellation
I now have a noise cancellation box for 6m, which uses switched coax's and gain controls to adjust cancellation. The main antenna is an upward pointing Moxon, and the auxiliary is a 4 element yagi pointing towards the beacon. Careful gain adjustments and selecting one of 6 switched delays plus a 180...

Re: Hello everybody
We don't seem to be getting much interest on this website at the moment. I thought I would stir things up a bit by posting an idea: As I am too near the beacon I get a lot of direct carrier, which makes meteor detection much more difficult. I showed this in the image I posted after my vertical Moxon...

Re: Suitable Antenna Designs
Here is a plot where I switch the antenna every 30 secs or so from a 4 ele yagi to the vertical pointing Moxon - now slightly tipped towards the beacon. As I stated earlier, the b/g noise is quieter on the Yagi, but the aircraft trails are usually brighter on the Moxon, and the direct carrier is defi...

Re: Suitable Antenna Designs
I have just got a vertically beamed Moxon up and running. It is made of insulated wire in 15mm plastic conduit. I had to add a catenary string to keep the driven element horizontal as in the attached photo. An N-type connector with a bit of tape around it fits snugly in the 3-way conduit box. The in...

Re: GB3MBA evaluation Tests
Large signals from aircraft reflections, here in Leicester. My 4 ele yagi is up at 11m - still up after last night's 2m UKAC. You can easily see the CW ident. Just the ICOM 7100, preamp 2 setting, AGC-M, with noise blanker on, and long coax to antenna. USB audio to Spectrum Lab. Tony capt1386.jpg ca...

Re: Spectrum Lab Software
Hi I'm no more of an expert on Spectrum Lab than you - I suggest that talking to Paul Hyde (g4csd=yahoo.co.uk@groups.io) would be a good thing - he has done a lot of work on scripts for Spectrum Lab. One of the ways that was suggested to me to get rid of the direct signal and improve ping reception ...

Hello everybody
I'm retired from Leicester University Space Research Group where I designed cooled CCD cameras for X-ray astronomy. I'm a radio amateur (G3OVH) near Leicester, UK. Been a member of BAA-RAG for many years. and played with reception of Graves pings etc using various receivers and Spectrum Lab. I hope ...
